29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Azbil Vortek Instruments LLC located at 8475 W I-25 Frontage Rd. Suite 300, Longmont, CO 80504: On and preceding November 2nd, 2017, the employer did not ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area of a TOS Trencin SN 32 lathe, which used a 10" chuck to drill parts, from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. This condition exposed employees to rotating parts, flying chips, and sparks hazards. b) Azbil Vortek Instruments LLC located at 8475 W I-25 Frontage Rd. Suite 300, Longmont, CO 80504: On and preceding November 2nd, 2017, the employer did not ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area of an Enco Mini lathe from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. This condition exposed employees to rotating parts, flying chips, and sparks hazards. c) Azbil Vortek Instruments LLC located at 8475 W I-25 Frontage Rd. Suite 300, Longmont, CO 80504: On and preceding November 2nd, 2017, the employer did not ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area of a "Mighty Comet" milling machine from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. This condition exposed employees to rotating parts, flying chips, and sparks hazards.
