OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to severe cuts: a. On or about 10/17/2017, an employee cut his left thumb while cutting an aluminum angle piece of 1 x 1 inch with a miter saw. The employer failed to provide appropriate instruction and training, in regard to machine applications and limitations, potential hazards, operating instructions and specific safety rules; such as but not limited to keeping hands away from cutting area and blade.

On or about 10/17/2017, an employee suffered a work-related injury and was hospitalized. The employer was aware of the in-patient hospitalization on 10/17/2017. The employer notified OSHA on 10/27/2017 at 9:30 a.m. of the in-patient hospitalization.
