29 CFR 1910.176(b): Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse. On or about October 24, 2017, employees were exposed to a struck by hazard. An employee was operating a 20 ton overhead crane, moving fabricated pipe in the south building. The pipes being moved came in contact with a section of MC12 x 40 channel on top of a storage rack on the south end of the building. The channel was not secured to the rack and fell to a package on the floor below.
