29 CFR 1910.213(c)(1): Circular handfed ripsaw(s) were not guarded by an automatically adjusting hood which completely enclosed that portion of the saw above the table and above the material being cut.  On or about 30 November 2017, and at times prior thereto, employees used table saws to cut pieces of wood without the use of a blade guard, exposing the employees to an amputation hazard from being struck by the rotating blade. 1) A Delta Unisaw 10 Inch Tilting Arbor Saw located at 2210 West 2nd Street was missing the blade guard. 2) A Saw Stop Table Saw located at 203 Commercial Drive was missing the blade guard.

On or about 30 November 2017, and at times prior thereto, employees used a Delta Unisaw 10 Inch Tilting Arbor Saw located at 2210 West 2nd Street to cut pieces of wood without the use of a spreader, exposing the employees to an amputation hazard from being struck by the rotating blade upon binding of the cut pieces of wood.

On or about 30 November 2017, and at times prior thereto, employees used table saws to cut pieces of wood without the use of an anti-kickback device, exposing the employees to an amputation hazard from being struck by the rotating blade. 1) A Delta Unisaw 10 Inch Tilting Arbor Saw located at 2210 West 2nd Street was missing the anti-kickback device. 2) A Saw Stop Table Saw located at 203 Commercial Drive was missing the anti-kickback device.

On or about 30 November 2017, and at times prior thereto, an employee used a Ritter R911 Horizontal Edge Belt Sander on product without the guards in place, exposing the employee to an amputation hazard from being pulled into the ingoing pinch points.

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck by fragments of plastic pipe due to the pipes potential for explosive shattering when used to transport compressed air.   On or about 30 November 2017, and at times prior thereto, a compressed air system installed within the wood shop located at 203 Commercial Drive was using Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) piping while operating at approximately 120 psi. The plastic service line was being used for various machines and tools, and had multiple drops to quick connect outlets for air lines.   PVC pipe and fittings do not possess shatter resistant properties and the brittle PVC material can be broken or shattered by external forces and stress.  This pipe is designed for transmittal of liquids which do not possess the high amounts of stored energy present in compressed gases. This hazard has been recognized by manufacturers of PVC products, the Plastic Pipe Institute, the American National Standards Institute, and OSHA through an official Safety Hazard Information Bulletin dated May 20, 1988.
