29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about December 5, 2017 and times prior at the Nothum Breader machine: The employer failed to ensure the hood guard magnetic interlock was properly maintained in that the hood was in the up position with a piece of metal clipped onto the side the frame which covered the interlock allowing the machine to run with the guard up which exposed employees to the hazards associated with getting caught in moving parts.
