29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about January 3, 2018, and at times prior, employees were exposed to laceration and/or amputation injuries in that the FMB Metal Cutting Band Saw, Antares Model 61272, did not have a guard in place to cover the unused portion of the blade. (b) On or about January 3, 2018, and at times prior, operators of the Cincinnati 9 press brake, located in the brake area, were exposed to amputation hazards when bending metal because the machine is not guarded and the employees are not restrained from accessing the point of operation. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for these items (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
