29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: 1000 S. Elmora Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ 07202 - Meat Room: a) Hobart Band Saw Model# 5701D S/N:: 27-064-437 was not adequately guarded to protect employee's hands from contacting the point of operation of the blade. The guard that is supposed to adjust to cover the unused portion of the blade did not move. The barrier guard that is intended to cover the remaining parts of the band saw blade is broken and not secured to the machinery to prevent contact. b) Meat Grinder machine was not provided a guard to prevent employee's hands from being caught in the auger. The auger is positioned approximately 12 inches from the opening of the grinder tray. Condition observed on or about 1/18/2018.
