29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Part Washer area: On or about January 17, 2018 and time prior, employees operated the JenFab parts washer to wash 30mm Projectile training rounds. The conveyor for the parts washer was not guarded to protect employees from the ingoing nip points while removing or picking up fallen parts.

OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being caught in a moving conveyor and the conveyor did not have an emergency stop device in the immediate vicinity: a) 30mm projectile training round parts washer: On or about January 17, 2018 and times prior, an employee was exposed to being caught in the open link conveyor system while removing parts and/or standing parts back up on the outfeed side of the JenFab Parts Washer conveyor. The conveyor did not have an emergency stop device in the immediate vicinity to shut off the conveyor. Abatement Note: Installation and maintenance of acceptable guarding for conveyor is considered acceptable abatement for this item.
