29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer did not instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury: (a) Vertix Builders, Inc. at 1833 N Emerson Street Denver, CO 80128: On or before March 8, 2018, the controlling employer did not instruct each employee and subcontractor employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his/her environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. On March 7, 2018 a fire occurred on the third level of a multi-level residential building construction site. Subcontractors on site had not been trained on emergency exit routes or means of egress. This condition exposed employees and subcontractor employees to fire hazards.

29 CFR 1926.24: The employer shall be responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective fire protection and prevention program at the job site throughout all phases of the construction, repair, alteration, or demolition work. (a) Vertix Builders, Inc. at 1833 N Emerson Street Denver, CO 80218: On or before March 8, 2018, the controlling employer did not develop and maintain an effective fire protection and prevention program at the job site throughout all phases of the construction. On March 7, 2018 a fire occurred on the third level of a multi-level residential building construction site. A site specific fire prevention program was not developed for the jobsite. This condition exposed employees and subcontractor employees to fire hazards.

29 CFR 1926.34(a): In every building or structure exits shall be so arranged and maintained as to provide free and unobstructed egress from all parts of the building or structure at all times when it is occupied. (a) Vertix Builders, Inc. at 1833 N Emerson Street Denver, CO 80218: On or before March 8, 2018, the controlling employer did not provide free and unobstructed egress from all parts of the building. On March 7, 2018 a fire occurred on the third level of a multi-level residential building construction site. Means of egress was obstructed, thus causing subcontractor employees on the second and third levels to jump to the ground below. This condition exposed employees and subcontractor employees to fire and other hazards.
