29 CFR 1926.850(a): Prior to permitting employees to start demolition operations, an engineering survey was not made by a competent person of the structure to determine the condition of the framing, floors, and walls, and possibility of unplanned collapse of any portion of the structure, including adjacent structures where employees may be exposed. The employer did not have in writing evidence that such a survey was performed.    JOBSITE:  The employer did not ensure that an engineering survey was made by a competent person of the roof awing structure to determine the condition of the framing and possibility of an unplanned collapse of any portion of the "structure" prior to allowing an employee to remove/cut the roof awing.    On or about 03/20/2018, the above roof awing was separated from the structure and fell while the employee was trying to cut the roof awning using a portable power saw from a stepladder, and the employee sustained a broken nose injury from the incident.
