29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. 21W626 North Ave., Lombard, IL 60148, Velasquez Construction yard, north, shelter/canopy structure, Henry pallet dismantler saw: on or about March 21, 2018, a saw operator was positioning and pulling wood pallets through the unguarded running band blade to dismantle wood pallets. Operator's fingers and hands were exposed to contact with unguarded running blade likely to result in amputation injury because effective safeguarding or other access preventing methods were not ensured. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
