29 CFR 1910.263(e)(1)(viii): Horizontal dough mixer(s) were not equipped with a full enclosure over the bowl while the agitator was in motion: a) Plant - On or about 03/21/18 and at times prior thereto employees operated the Hobart mixer Model V1401U, Serial No. 31-1222-387, 480V. The machine was started from the switch while the bowl was in the lower position, leaving a 3.0 in gap between the periphery of the wire mesh guard (on top of the bowl) and the bowl itself. The agitator and the agitator shaft were not guarded in the 3.0 in. gap around the top of the bowl. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
