OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from the hazard to workers who exited authorized work areas of being struck by an automated people mover: On March 21, 2018, and at times prior thereto, employees performed preventative maintenance near operational Automated People Movers (APMs) without using the physical barriers and/or signs to mitigate hazards encountered upon exiting authorized work areas. Feasible and acceptable means of abatement will include: (1) Use of safety attendant ("site warden") while workers are near operational Automated People Movers (APMs) as deemed appropriate by hazard risk assessment. When a safety attendant is used , the only role of safety attendant will be to observe the work being performed. Safety attendants will have the authority to stop work at any time. (2) Use of physical barriers and/or signs to designate working areas for employees working near operational Automated People Movers (APMs) as deemed appropriate by hazard risk assessment.
