OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): OSH Act of 1970 Section 5(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to amputation hazards at the Grizzly Pop-Up/Up Cut Saw in that the guard did not enclose the point of operation. On 2/23/2018, in the production area at the Suwanee facility, employees were exposed to amputation hazards as the guarding on the Grizzly Up Cut saw did not enclose the point of operation. An employee suffered a fingertip amputation during the up stroke of the saw.

29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1): Places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces were not kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. a) On 4/9/18, in the production area, employees were exposed to slip and trip hazards near the Edge Banding and CNC machines due leaking water, piles of saw dust used to dry the floor and cords left in the area. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item. b) On 4/11/18, accumulation of saw dust of over 0.5 inches, classified as combustible, was observed on the edge of the structure, metal pipes and electrical disconnect in the CNC area. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
