29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, were not provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition wherever it is necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact: Heat Treat Area - On or about April 12, 2018 and before the employer did not provide employees with flame resistant protective clothing while they worked at the pit furnaces. Employees were exposed to burn injuries. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).

29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or were likely to be present, which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment: Heat Treat Area - On or about April 12, 2018 and before the company did not conduct an adequate hazard assessment to determine the necessary personal protective equipment to protect the employees from injury which resulted in employees not being provided with the proper personal protective equipment in the heat treating department. Abatement certification is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
