29 CFR 1926.1060(a): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee using ladders and stairways, as necessary, which would enable each employee to recognize hazards related to ladders and stairways and train each employee in the procedures to be followed to minimize these hazards: a- Side of Building, 300 Engleside Avenue, Beach Haven NJ: Company employees were exposed to fall hazards, up to and in excess of 16 feet to the ground surface below, when utilizing several aluminum extension ladders that contained visibly damaged rungs, side rails and broken fly section locks, etc. and when climbing down these aluminum extension ladders while not grasping the ladder with at least one hand. Through worksite interviews these employees admitted that they had not received ladder hazard recognition and minimization training from their employer. Condition noted on or about 04/20/18. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM, FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
