29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On or about 05-08-2018 and times prior thereto, located at Joint Expeditionary Base, Amphibious Drive and Grapple Road Little Creek, VA 23459, Pier LOUA #2 Spiral 4 Support Project, employee(s) were exposed to unguarded and unprotected fall hazards greater than eight (8) feet high when working on top of a static training display platform fabricated between two connex type container boxes. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

The ladder was being used in the closed position and leaned up against a flat surface to access an elevated work area Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employee(s) and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
