General-duty citation text
29 CFR 1910.263(i)(7)(iii): A hazard of getting caught did exist because a sufficient number of stop buttons were not provided to enable quick stopping of the conveyor in an area where a belt idler roller and shaft were exposed. (a)Interbake Foods, Inc. at One Devils Food Drive, North Sioux City, SD 57049: On or about and at times prior to May 10, 2018, the employer did not ensure that an in-going nip point on a 5.5 inch idler roller on a conveyor associated with line #1 was guarded or otherwise protected with stop buttons in close proximity to the hazard area. This condition exposed employees to an in-going nip point and caught-by hazard. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide barrier guarding at the in-going nip point to ensure employees could not be caught-by the idler roller.
