29 CFR 1926.21(b)(2): The employer shall instruct each employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions and the regulations applicable to his work environment to control or eliminate any hazards or other exposure to illness or injury. a. On or about May 16, 2018, located under the east side of the bridge spanning the Scioto River on West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, an employee was performing demolition activities at heights between approximately 12 and 13 feet without fall protection. The employer never instructed the employee in the recognition and avoidance of unsafe conditions with the regulations applicable to protect employees from the hazards associated with using powers tools for demolition purposes at elevated heights.
