OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): : The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being burned by the flame curtains from the #3 Dow Batch Heat Treating furnace.      WORKSHOP/HEAT TREATING DEPARTMENT:  The employer did not ensure through utilizing appropriate engineering measures, performing proper maintenance and utilizing other appropriate means that the employees, loading and working in and around the #3 Dow Batch Heat Treating furnace, were protected from the hazards of being burnt by the flame curtains at all times.     On/or about May 15, 2018, an employee, preparing to load the #3 Dow Batch Heat Treating furnace was unable to open the door of the furnace and was trying to adjust the valve for the air on the door using a screw driver. As soon as the employee opened the door, flame curtains came out from the furnace causing burns to the employee's face, hands, ears, arms and head.
