OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees due to struck-by hazards from a waste collection vehicle with an inoperable audible warning signal device.  (a): St John Street and Claremont Ave Intersection Little Ferry, NJ- Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards due to an inoperable audible warning signal device (back-up alarm). Employees working in the area of a waste collection vehicle (garbage truck) were exposed to struck-by hazards. On May 17, 2018, an employee sustained deep lacerations when he was struck by the bumper of a garbage truck traveling in reverse that did not have an operable audible warning signal device.  Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
