Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) LPG container storage: On June 29, 2019, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to burn hazards while filling LPG containers on forklifts, in that proper skin protection was not provided.

29 CFR 1910.101(b): "Compressed gases." The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks shall be in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in Sec. 1910.6. Section 3.3.1 of the CGA Pamphlet P-1-1965 refers to storing cylinders in accordance with CGA and NFPA standards The CGA Pamphlet P-1-1991 Section 3.7.4.1 states that "All compressed gas cylinders in service or in storage shall be secured to prevent from falling." a) Liquefied Propane Gas filling station: On June 29, 2018, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards while filling LPG containers on forklifts, in that an unsecured nitrogen cylinder was stored next to the Liquefied Propane Gas filling station.

29 CFR 1910.178(p)(1): If at any time a powered industrial truck is found to be in need of repair, defective, or in any way unsafe, the truck shall be taken out of service until it has been restored to safe operating condition. a) Warehouse: On or about June 29, 2018, and at times prior, the employer exposed employees to struck-by hazards by not taking Forklift (Serial Number H813V02011K) out of service, in that the forklift had a frayed hydraulic hose that control the mast lift.
