29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: a) At 1720 Farmville Road, Auburn, Alabama: On or about July 10, 2018 and at times prior; the employer exposed employees to cave-in hazards in that employees were not provided a ladder to provide safe egress from a trench exposing his employees to cave-in hazards.

29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: a) At 1720 Farmville Road, Auburn, Alabama: On or about July 10, 2018 and at times prior; the employer exposed employees to cave-in hazards in that employees were allowed to work inside of a trench approximately 6 feet deep, 3.5 feet wide, and approximately 50 feet long, that was dug in class "B" soil. The employer had not complied with the standard in that employees were not protected from cave-in by an adequate protective system that protected all areas exposed to cave-in exposing his employees to cave-in hazards.
