29 CFR 1910.176(a): Use of mechanical equipment. Where mechanical handling equipment is used, sufficient safe clearances shall be allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways shall be kept clear and in good repair, with no obstruction across or in aisles that could create a hazard. Permanent aisles and passageways shall be appropriately marked.    a. On or about July 02, 2018, in the Receiving Area, the employer had not marked aisles or passageways when employees worked in close proximity to forklift traffic.  Employees checking incoming shipments were exposed to struck-by hazards and crushing injuries from forklifts that were being used to unload trailers.    Dollar General Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.176(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 990109, citation number 2, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on November 21, 2014 with respect to a workplace located at 30 Martha Drive, Bethel, PA 19507.
