29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): "Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On July 17, 2018 at 258 S. Main St. Waynesville, a commercial retail shop building connected to other shops, a roofer was exposed to an 8 ft. fall hazard while assisting the owner by handing shingles over to the owner to add another layer of shingles to the 10/12 pitch roof without utilizing any fall protection.
