29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16): Personal fall arrest systems, when stopping a fall, shall: 29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16)(iii): be rigged such that an employee can neither free fall more than 6 feet (1.8 m), nor contact any lower level. a. Located at 7005 Industrial Parkway in Plain City, Ohio: On or about July 25, 2018, an employee installing felt on the steep pitched roof was attached to a vertical lifeline that was rigged on the ridge of the roof approximately thirty-three feet to the side of the employee's work position. The employer did not ensure that the lifeline was rigged above the employee to prevent the swinging action of the lifeline and prevent the free fall distance within the minimum requirements, thereby exposing the employee to an approximately fifteen foot fall hazard.
