29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of an energy control procedure, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative: 89 Shrewsbury St, Worcester, MA As of July 31, 2018, the employer had not established an energy control program to protect employees who maintained, cleaned, and set up restaurant machines. There were no written energy control procedures for the oven or other multi-energy source machines. Employees received only verbal training to unplug machines when cleaning. The employer had not performed periodic inspections of in-process energy control operations to ensure employee adherence to the procedures and did not perform a review, between the inspector and each employee of that employee's responsibilities under each energy control procedure.
