29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): "Unprotected sides and edges." Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems:    location: lobby roof  on or about: 8/02/18    a) Employees were engaged in carpentry work on the lobby roof. The employees were not protected from falling and were exposed to a fall of 14'.      NOTE: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the inspection casefile, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of abatement for this violation as normally required by 29 CFR 1903.19.

The employees were exposed to a fall of 14 feet.       NOTE: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.

The stairway, with 18 risers, did not have a handrail.     location: stairwell B  on or about: 8/02/18    b) Employees used the staircase for access between the 1st and 2nd floor. The stairway, with 23 risers, did not have a handrail.
