29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). Employees engaged in trenching and related activities, including but not limited to the delivery of grease traps and checking the level and depth of the trench, were exposed to cave-in hazards while working in an unprotected trench approximately 6 feet deep in that a protective system was not in place.
