29 CFR 1926.152(f)(3): Flammable liquids were used where there were open flames or other sources of ignition within 50 feet of the operation: Note: Certain conditions warrant that flammable liquids be used farther than 50 feet from open flames or other sources of ignition. a) Site - On or about 08/17/18 and at times prior thereto roof workers applied flammable solvent-based adhesives in an area of the roof, while a torch flame was set in another area of the roof. No precautions were taken to eliminate or control the sources of ignition. Or in the alternative: 29 CFR 1926.152(i)(6): In locations where flammable vapors could have been present, precautions were not taken to prevent ignition by eliminating or controlling sources of ignition: a) Site - On or about 08/17/18 and at times prior thereto roof workers applied flammable solvent-based adhesives in an area of the roof, while a torch flame was set in another area of the roof. No precautions were taken to eliminate or control the sources of ignition. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
