Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure. a. Located at 1223 Columbus Street in Lancaster, Ohio: On or about August 22, 2018, employees were removing felt and shingles from the roof of the building while intermittently using climbing type harnesses. The employer did not ensure that employees were protected from falling from the roof by an acceptable means of fall protection.
