29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iv)(B): The employer did not ensure that employees who had contact with contaminated laundry wore protective gloves and other appropriate personal protective equipment: a. 10A Van Dyke Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901/ Service Department Drivers were required to pick up and handle soiled medical laundry at client sites, including but not limited to items not placed in impervious soil bags or soil bins by the client, without the employer ensuring that adequate protective gloves and garments were used to protect the drivers from reasonably anticipated exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials. Violation occurred on or about August 29, 2018 WRITTEN ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(v): The employer did not provide additional training when changes such as modification of tasks or procedures or institution of new tasks or procedures affect the employee's occupational exposure. The additional training may be limited to addressing the new exposures created: a. 10A Van Dyke Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901/ Service Department As part of their routine job duties, drivers were required to pick up and handle soiled medical laundry at client sites, including but not limited to items not placed in impervious soil bags or soil bins by the client. The company's written Personal Protective Equipment Hazard Assessment policy stated that drivers were not to sort or handle actual soiled linen at any time. The employer did not provide additional bloodborne pathogen training to those drivers, for tasks and procedures outside the scope of the written policy. Violation occurred on or about August 29, 2018 WRITTEN ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19.
