29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(iv): When midrails are used, they shall be installed at a height approximately midway between the top edge of the guardrail system and the platform surface. On or about September 11, 2018, employees performing siding installation from a pump-jack scaffold were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 21.3 feet when the employer failed to ensure that a mid-rail was installed. The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.451(g)(4)(I), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1216838, citation number 1, item number 2b and was affirmed as a final order on May 3, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3804 Saratoga Dr., Joliet, Illinois 60435. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
