OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. On or about 09/11/18, at the location of 3560 S. Maize Road in Wichita, KS, employees engaged in repairing trailer suspension air bags were exposed to amputation and crushing hazards. Employees raised the trailer by inflating a suspension air bag without safety stands to support the trailer. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ACCEPTABLE METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARDS IS: Provide the employees knowledge and training when using the Meritor RideStar RHP55 and RideSentry MPA20 Trailer Air Suspension Inspection Guide. MERITOR, Technical Bulletin, TP-1720. Issued 01-17. Left Column, Park the vehicle on a level surface. Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving. Support the vehicle with safety stands. Do not work under a vehicle supported by jacks. Jacks can slip or fall over. Serious injury and damage to components can result.
