29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer did not maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and did not ensure that they were readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they were in their work area: a) On or about September 18, 2018, and at times prior, the employer did not have a safety data sheet available for several hazardous chemicals used at the maintenance area. Employees were exposed to serious illness while using the chemicals to include but not limited to the following: 1) Aervoe galvanized coating - contains naphtha and butyl acetate. Naphtha is highly toxic which can be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Butyl acetate is flammable and can cause skin irritation and dizziness. 2) Startex paint thinner - contains nahtha, ethylbenzene and xylene. Naphtha is highly toxic which may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Ethylbenzene and xylene are flammable and can cause skin irritation and dizziness. 3) Transfer 4063 trim adhesive - contains dimethyl ether and is highly toxic and can cause asphyxiation. 4) CARQUEST battery cleaner - contains butoxyethanol and can cause skin irritation and dizziness. 5) Bondo fiberglass resin - contains methyl ethyl ketone and are flammable and can cause skin irritation and dizziness. 6) Panida gasoline - contains benzene and can cause dizziness, nausea, and skin irritation. 7) Rustoleum paint sealer - contains propane and butyl acetate and are flammable and can cause skin irritation and dizziness. 8) Valvoline starting fluid - contains naphtha, propane, and diethyl ether. Naphtha is highly toxic which may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways. Propane and diethyl ether are flammable and can cause skin irritation and dizziness
