29 CFR 1960.8(a): The Agency head did not furnish employment and a place of employment to each employee that was free from recognized hazards that caused or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm:  a) 650 Monroe Ave., Fort Eustis, VA 23604, Room 101: On or about September 27, 2018, and times prior thereto, employees were exposed to the hazard of mold in work spaces, exposing employees to potential onset of allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and exacerbation or aggravation of allergies, asthma and other health conditions. The employer did not implement adequate measures to prevent active mold growth in the building.  Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to abate the hazard of mold include:   1. Identify and correct the conditions that permit mold growth by following American National Standards Institute (ANSI) / Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) S520, Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation, or similar guidance.  2. Ensure ventilation requirements are met by following the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard 62, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, or similar guidance.  3. Protect the health and safety of the building occupants and persons who remediate mold by establishing appropriate containment and worker protections.     a. Temporary relocation of some or all of the building occupants may be appropriate.     b. Personal protective equipment may include goggles, long gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection.
