The slitter blade travels parallel to the mandrel on a carriage and makes cuts in intervals specified by the operator. As the blade contacts the rotating tape rolls, a nip point is created which caught a rag an employee was using to dry the tape roll and pulled the employees hand into the blade. This condition resulted in a partial amputation of the employees finger.
