29 CFR 1910.95(d)(1): When information indicates that any employee's exposure may equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels, the employer shall develop and implement a monitoring program. a. Snowmaking Operations - On or about January 17, 2019, employees performing snowmaking duties were exposed to noise levels at 72.9% of the permissible daily noise dose or an equivalent of 87.7 dBA during the 338 minute sampling period which exceeded the action level of 85dBA or 50%. The employer failed to conduct representative noise monitoring for employees working near air compressors and snow making equipment.

Main Snowmaking Building - Employees working in the snowmaking building were exposed to an unguarded shaft located between the Ingersoll-Rand Centac air compressor, Model 2CV35M3, Serial Number M916107 and Siemens Induction Motor, Serial Number 1-5115-68691-02-1. The shaft was not completely enclosed. b. Building C2 - Employees entering snowmaking building #2 were exposed to an unguarded shaft located on the Ingersoll-Rand Centac air compressor, Model 2CV35M3, Serial Number M91 6107. The shaft was not completely enclosed. c.. Building C3 - Employees entering snowmaking building #3 were exposed to an unguarded shaft located on the Ingersoll-Rand Centac air compressor, Model 2CV38M3, Serial Number M90 5611. The shaft was not completely enclosed.
