Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck-by flying shrapnel in the event the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe used to transport compressed air were to explode.  On or about January 19, 2019, and times prior thereto, where employees worked below and within one to two feet from Schedule 40 PVC pipe that was used to transport compressed air in the shop area for use in manufacturing trailers.  The installed PVC pipe was not protected against any external forces or stresses.  The installed pipe was not designed to transport compressed air.
