29 CFR 1910.107(g)(2): All spraying areas were not kept as free from the accumulation of deposits of combustible residues as practical, with cleaning conducted daily if necessary: a. At the time of the inspection, plastic sheeting, used to cover the walls of the spray booth, had not been changed for at least over a week, and was said to have been changed approximately monthly, was covered with overspray, from the spraying of flammables such as solvent based primer and paint. b. At the time of the inspection, overspray residue covered the paint booth floor at least to a depth of approximately 1/16", and had not been changed for at least a month. c. Spray guns were flushed of remaining solvent based, flammable paint, by spraying the contents onto the floor of the spray booth resulting in standing flammable liquid on the floor, adding to the potential fire load in the booth. The liquid was not cleaned daily. (Note: any remaining paint should be deposited in a container designed for the purpose.) Abatement documentation is required for this violation.
