29 CFR 1910.147(d)(3): All energy isolating devices that were needed to control the energy to the machine or equipment were not physically located and operated in such a manner as to isolate the machine or equipment from the energy source(s): (a) TRIM LINE ROOM, PEEL AND CORE AUGER - Employees used an emergency stop button and motor starter system with control circuitry to perform lock out tag out on the P&C Auger while the employees reached into and cleaned the equipment, on or about January 24, 2019. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) TRIM LINE ROOM, INCLINE AUGERS - Employees performed sanitation operations on the two incline augers leading from the unit room, and employees were exposed to the 12 inch rotating augers that are operating while spraying them down with water and cleaning chemicals, on or about January 24, 2019. (b) TRIM LINE ROOM, INCLINE AUGERS - Employees performed sanitation operations on the three incline augers leading from the trim line room to the cook room, and employees were exposed to the 12 inch rotating augers that are operating while spraying them down with water and cleaning chemicals, on or about January 24, 2019. (c) TRIM LINE ROOM, TRIM LINE AUGERS - Employees performed sanitation operations on the Pick auger under the trim line belts, and employees were exposed to the six inch rotating auger that is operating while spraying it down with water and cleaning chemicals, on or about January 24, 2019. (d) TRIM LINE ROOM, PEEL AND CORE AUGERS - Employees performed sanitation operations on the P&C auger under the flume, and employees were exposed to the six inch rotating auger that is operating while spraying it down with water and cleaning chemicals, on or about January 24, 2019. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
