29 CFR 1910.217(b)(1): Hazards to personnel associated with broken or falling machine components. Machine components shall be designed, secured, or covered to minimize hazards caused by breakage, or loosening and falling or release of mechanical energy (i.e. broken springs). On or about January 28, 2019, the employer failed to ensure the flywheel components of the X Plant, Cell #3, 600 ton part-rev mechanical power press were covered to minimize hazards caused by breakage, loosening, and falling or release of mechanical energy.
