OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards while working under inadequately maintained automotive lifts: a) Service Area, Fourth Lift from the Service Desk (Break Room Side): Employees were exposed to a crush hazard while working beneath vehicles elevated by an in-ground automotive lift (2-post, red), and the employer failed to ensure that one of the lift's arm stage extenders was properly secured (stopper bolted) to prevent it from fully dislodging from the lift arm, as discovered on or about 02/15/2019. b) Service Area, Fifth Lift from the Service Desk (Break Room Side): Employees were exposed to a crush hazard while working beneath vehicles elevated by an above-ground automotive lift (2-post, blue), and the employer failed to ensure that one of the lift's arm stage extenders was properly secured (stopper bolted) to prevent it from fully dislodging from the lift arm, as discovered on or about 02/15/2019.
