29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Facility: The guard for the rotating blade of the Wegoma chop saw used for cutting aluminum parts did not completely guard the blade while the saw was in upper resting position. On or about 14 February 2019, the right index finger of the operator came in contact with the unguarded portion of the blade of the above saw, and the employee sustained a finger amputation from the incident.
