The exit access must not go through a room that can be locked, such as a bathroom, to reach an exit or exit discharge, nor may it lead into a dead-end corridor. Stairs or a ramp must be provided where the exit route is not substantially level.  (a) The employer is failing to ensure that employees are protected from hazards associated with emergency evacuation. This was most recently documented on April 04, 2019 on a job site located at 4770 NE 17th Court, Des Moines, IA. The exit route leading from the USDA Inspector's Office to the exit discharge was obstructed by the inspector's desk and provided approximately 14 inches of space to pass by.   (b) The employer is failing to ensure that employees are protected from hazards associated with emergency evacuation. This was most recently documented on April 04, 2019 on a job site located at 4770 NE 17th Court, Des Moines, IA. The door leading from the USDA Inspector's Office to the exit discharge was obstructed by a chair and tool kit and provided  20 inches of space to pass by, creating a trip hazard.
