Employees of Ramon Mendez were exposed to fall hazards of up to 16 feet while engaged in re-roofing activities on a residential building with no fall protection in place. 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to upper landing surfaces, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access: (a) On or about April 2, 2019, the employer did not ensure that portable ladders, used to access upper landing surfaces, extend at least 3 feet above the upper landing surface to which the ladders were used to gain access. Workers were observed using two ladders to descend the roof of a residential building. Ladders did not extend at least 3 ft above the landing platform and were not tied to the roof edge. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
