29 CFR Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries: a) At the service shop, on or about 11/6/2018: The employer did not ensure that the Rotary two post service mounted auto lifts were free from defects and in safe working order prior to use. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard includes but is not limited to: Ensuring compliance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI), Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation Inspection and Maintenance, ANSI/ALI ALOIM - 2008, which addresses in section 5 of the standard that the employer shall develop an inspection program performed by qualified person on the above ground surface auto lifts.
