29 CFR 1910.107(b)(1): The spraybooth was not substantially constructed of steel, securely and rigidly supported, or of concrete or masonry.  Abra Auto Body Repair of America-Decatur, GA- On or about May 9, 2019, and times prior to, the Eagle Spray Booth door was not securely and rigidly supported in that the main door hinges and seals were damaged and broken allowing paint vapors to escape to the rest of the shop exposing employees to fire hazards and vapors.  Also, the door and walls of the Devilbiss Spray Booth had deteriorated (rusted) and not sealing properly and was supported by wood blocks and spray foam.    In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).

29 CFR 1910.107(b)(10): When spraying areas are illuminated through glass panels or other transparent materials, only fixed lighting units shall be used as a source of illumination. Panels were not arranged so that normal accumulations of residue on the exposed surface of the panel will not be raised to a dangerous temperature by radiation or conduction from the source of illumination:  Abra Auto Body Repair of America-Decatur, Ga- On or about May 9, 2019, and times prior to, employees were exposed to smoke inhalation hazards at the following locations:  a) Eagle Spray Booth 1)Lights hanging from the ceiling outside the door of the booth were not sealed.  b) Devillis Spray booth (Prep Booth) 1) Lights inside the booth panel used as a source of illumination was broken/cracked. 2) Lights outside the spray booth used as a source of illumination were not enclosed exposing employees to a fire/burn hazard. 29 CFR 1910.107(c)(6): Electrical wiring and equipment not subject to deposits of combustible residues but located in a spraying area as herein defined were not explosion-proof type approved for Class I, group D locations and did not otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part, for Class I, Division 1, Hazardous Locations:  Abra Auto Body Repair of America-Decatur, Ga- On or about May 9, 2019, and times prior to, employees were spray paintings cars in the shop area outside of the spray booth.  Electrical equipment such as, but is not limited to lights, extension cords, and electrical outlets are located in the shop area. The electrical equipment was not approved for the location, exposing employees to a fire hazard.
