Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. a. On or about June 5, 2019, at the Pickerington Health Campus job site, the employer did not ensure that employees involved in performing furnace flue installation activities on the roof were protected against a fall of approximately 20 feet, 7.75 inches.

29 CFR 1926.20(b)(1): It shall be the responsibility of the employer to initiate and maintain such programs as may be necessary to comply with this part. a. On or about June 5, 2019, at the Pickerington Health Campus job site, the employer failed to maintain a safety and health program to ensure hazard detection and correction including, but not limited to, fall protection for employees involved in performing furnace flue installation activities on the roof.
