29 CFR Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries: a) At the garage, on or about 6/11/2019: A procedure for periodic inspections and maintenance of automotive lifts had not been developed or implemented. Amongst other feasible means of abatement: To abate the hazards comply with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Automotive Lift Institute (ALI), Standard for Automotive Lifts - Safety Requirements for Operation Inspection and Maintenance, ANSI/ALI ALOIM - 2000, which states in the inspection and maintenance sections of the standard that the employer shall establish a periodic inspection and maintenance procedure in accordance with the recommendations of the lift manufacturer. Periodic inspections and maintenance shall be performed by qualified person according to manufacturers, distributors or service organizations for automotive lift products .
